Carmen Dusmet Carrasco, Wrecked by Success
From Dusk to Dawn exbition view, Trixie (NL), 2022. Photo by Helena Roig.
About the video:
Influenced by Ernest Becker's The Denial of Death (1973), which examines humanity's strategies for evading mortality, the film delves into the language of dreams. After her father’s passing, Carmen found herself repeatedly dreaming of becoming her mother. In these dreams, they merged into a single entity, perhaps as a means to share strength and navigate grief. Wrecked by Success studies this merging through cinematic language, suggesting how much there is yet to learn from dreams.
