www.cause-deces.biz was a web page that provided daily listings of items for sale on the website Le Bon Coin (the french Craigslist) bearing the words “cause décès” ("cause: death").
As in the heartbreaking six-word story "For sale: baby shoes, never worn", each object listed online contains its story - but also its share of ambiguity: an emotional, aesthetic and utilitarian value is reinvested in a process of commodification. Life goes on. Everything must go!
