www.cause-deces.biz was a web page that provided daily listings of items for sale on the website Le Bon Coin (the french Craigslist) bearing the words “cause décès” ("cause: death").
As in Hemingway's heartbreaking one-line novel ("For sale: baby shoes, never worn"), each object contains its story - but also its share of ambiguity: an emotional, aesthetic and utilitarian value is reinvested in a process of commodification. Life goes on. Everything must go!
